In some areas of the world, such as Peru and California, thick black tar collects in pools or pits. Thousands of years ago, animals became trapped in the sticky tar. This program shows how the bones of these animals, many of them extinct, have been recovered and assembled by paleontologists to form a picture of life from the ancient past.
