DIATOMACEOUS EARTH FOOD GRADE 10 Lb

This fossilized skeletons of tiny aquatic organisms. When untreated, the razor sharp edges of this mined product scratch the exoskeletons of hard bodied insects, making them susceptible to fatal attack from natural organisms in the soil. Application rate: Dry: 1 lb. per 500 sq. ft. Solution: 2 tbs. per gal. of water. As a food supplement for pets: 1-2% of food volume.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON USAGE -

Ingredients

100% Pure Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth.

Directions

Feed about 2% of the weight of the regular feed rations over several weeks for noticeable results. More will not be harmful. MN-51/AFA is useful around the house for control of roaches, silverfish, ants, bedbugs, flies, fleas, crickets, and many other insects. They can be applied as a dry dust or mixed with water at the rate of 2 oz. per quart (60 g per liter) and sprayed as a liquid. Application To be effective, MN-51/AFA need to be applied as a physical barrier that insects must crawl across to be damaged. Apply dust liberally around cracks and crevices, under stoves and refrigerators, and in likely hiding places. Be sure to treat around sinks and drain pipes. Lightly dust areas around windowsills, doors and other places where pests may enter. Rugs and carpets: Apply a thin layer of D.E. all over rugs and carpets to control fleas. Rake the D.E. into the fibers and leave overnight. When cleaning, do not make a special effort to remove the dust in the rug. It will continue to kill live fleas, repel others, and will deodorize the carpet. For even better control of flies and roaches, liberally dust the outside walls of the house, shrubbery, and outbuildings (such as barns, stables, kennels or corrals). Repeat if needed.

FEATURE –

  • Control of hard shell insects (fleas, ticks, ants, roaches, beetles, bed bugs, etc); Will not harm earthworms.
  • Elimination and prevention of worms and internal parasites without chemicals.
  • Improved coat and hoof condition.
  • Fewer flies due to preventing fly larvae from developing in manure.
  • Safe for Human or Animal Consumption.

SAMPLE CUSTOMER REVIEW

1) Worked wonders as a bedbug pesticide, but a strategy is required - Having realized in horror that I had a mild bedbug infestation confined to my bedroom, I researched for the most effective, natural way of getting rid of them (I was not in the market to spend hundreds, let alone thousands, of dollars on chemical toxins that might not work that well). This led me to this product, step one of my strategy. Step two required learning as much as possible about this pest. So here's how I got rid of them:

1- Set my alarm clock to 2:30 AM. Woke up at this hour to find that's about feed time for this critters (averaging between 1:30 and 3:30 AM), so I was able to spot the hiding places from where they came out to get their meal. Does not matter if you turn the light on, they still come out. I did this for a whole month to monitor how many kept coming out throughout the DE powder treatment.

2- Using a duster, I applied as thin as possible a layer of DE powder around and underneath my bed frame, as well as the trail I was able to track from the hiding places towards my bed. Basically half my room. I also used a bit of the dust on the rest of the floor and any of the horizontal surfaces in it, but mainly the area around the bed and the hiding spots.

3- Since it was, thankfully, the early summer days, I was able to sleep without covers throughout the weeks in which I did the treatment. All bed covers, blankets, pillow cases and the like were sealed in bags in which I also applied the dust. I kept those tightly sealed for a good 3 months.

4- By the second week, I had come across and killed close to 23 of the suckers, but began seeing some dried out remains of what looked like dead bedbugs, but these could also simply be shed skins from molting, so I still did not remove the dust. I was no longer being bitten.

5- By the fifth week the bedbugs were not coming out anymore, but I did not remove the dust.

6- Three and 1/2 months had passed and it seemed the problem was solved, yet this parasite had me so paranoid that I kept waking up in the wee hours to see if anything was making its way towards my bed from anywhere around the room. I looked around the hiding places and found several of the dried out remains of the bedbugs. Success?

7 - By the fourth month I got tired of having a room full of dust and felt confident that my strategy had paid off, so I vacuumed the room. Took out the bags with bed covers, blankets and the like and found some more dried out shells of former bedbugs, picked them out of there and then put all that stuff in the washing machine.

6- Five whole months had passed, and even though the bedbugs had long stopped coming out, the trauma of having had a bedbug infestation kept me waking up at dawn and turning on the lights for a few minutes form many months. But to date (that's April 2013) there is no sign of them anywhere in my bedroom or anywhere else in my apartment, and even spider beetles (which can sometimes be confused for bedbugs but are not blood parasites) have disappeared.

My bedbug problem happened a year ago and I was able to solve it in a matter of weeks, but it took me this long to write a review of the DE dust solution because of the fact that bedbugs can last a year without feeding, so in a worst case scenario the problem could have reappeared. But with a full year of bedbug freedom, I am confident to recommend Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth as a natural pesticide that did a wonderful job while being extremely cheap and non-toxic to boot. I only had to use less than a quarter of the bag (in fact, the duster still has some left-over dust from the one and only time I sprayed it). Note, however, that an effective treatment of eradication requires diligence. These parasites can hide anywhere, so you have to do your best at identifying their hiding spots, learning their schedules and taking precautions to not let them spread out anywhere else. Also, I do not suffer asthma, so I had no problem sleeping in my room while the dust sat on the floor, but if you do suffer from any respiratory issues, I would suggest staying in a different room or a different residence if possible for a few weeks. Every once in a while I still apply the dust around the bed, just in case, and ever since I started using it, I've never felt any discomfort, irritation, or any health issues at all, so from my perspective, this stuff is harmless. Remember, too, that this is the FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth, not the stuff used for swimming pool filters.
Hope this helps.

2) Awesome, Just Awesome - I ordered this from the seller about a year ago and I had one of the worst cock roach infestations that I had ever seen in my life. It was so bad that I could see them at night crawling on the inside of the TV screen, I had to throw out 2 coffee pots because they were breeding inside parts I couldn't even get to in order to clean along with a wooden knife block in the kitchen. I had to throw out an alarm clock because their were dead roaches covering the LED numbers so that you couldn't make out what time it was.

We had purchased those space saver bags for clothing and were storing about 6 of them under a futon in the living room. We have hard wood flooring and when I went to move the bags in order to sweep the floor about 10,000 of them scattered in every direction of the apartment. At this point I had tried bombing the house several times with an overkill on the amount of bombs needed. The final time I did it I had 4 bombs in the kitchen 2 in the bathroom and three in each of the 2 bedrooms. I had an exterminator over to the house on multiple occasions spraying poison all over the house about 3 times per month and nothing was even slowing them down. They were breeding faster than we could kill them.

It got to the point were we even had to throw out the dishwasher as they were breeding on top and under it as well as inside of it. I was to the point that I just wanted to move the hell out of this apartment all together but I couldn't afford too. I tried boric acid in all the heating vents and in various places which seemed to have absolutely no effect what so ever. In fact I can't say that I found one dead bug from using that crap. I was getting very very fed up and wanted to shoot the landlord for not dealing with the problem. Since nothing was being done and I was tired of the constant poisoning of the house and I no longer had a dishwasher to keep washing dishes over and over after having to bomb the place every month I decided to do some research online to find a method that wasn't constantly leaving poison all over the house. I have 3 small children and this was a very big concern for me because I don't want them being harmed by all these chemicals and poisons.

I ran across the information about this product and contacted this seller to get some more details because as you would imagine I was skeptical if anything would get rid of the bugs. I was contacted back right away with specific details on how and where I should place this powder, he was even kind enough to throw in a free pest pistol for me after I told him how bad the issue was. Within a couple weeks the problem was significantly less, by the end of the month the roaches were almost non existent. Well then my mother decided to go around and start cleaning up a majority of the powder in a lot of the areas that I had put it because it looked messy which I really didn't care how it looked. In my opinion I would rather see white powder laying around than have Roaches constantly crawling all over everything.

I let a few months go by and the roaches started appearing in numbers again, So I decided that is it and I went around the entire house with this stuff in the pest pistol and shot it into every outlet, small cracks between the walls and floor, all along the base boards in every room. Put some in all the cabinets and drawers, behind and under the stove and fridge. Basically leaving them no where that they could walk in my apartment without walking through the powder sooner or later.

What I found out from the seller is the way this stuff works is much different from any other type of pest control. Diatomaceous Earth at a microscopic level is like little shards of glass, very sharp at that level but not to the touch. It feels much like baking soda or heavy flour and is totally safe to humans and pets, in fact my 18 month old son has played in the stuff on many occasions because he doesn't know what it's there for he just thinks it's funny to spread it all over the floor on me. So what happens is the roaches walk on this stuff and it makes little cuts and gouges to their underbelly, Unlike people roaches cannot heal from cuts. So what this product effectively does in cut the roaches until the essentially dehydrate and die over the course of a couple painful days.

My place is now completely roach free and I can now sleep at night without having nightmares that they are crawling on me, which was happening a lot when they were bad. I would recommend this product to anyone with or without children and pets, as well as this seller has the best prices and is extremely helpful. Thank You again I can't say it enough.
